Good Home Quest Walkthrough: Heile's Fate and the Shiny Teeth Dilemma
Full Good Home quest walkthrough in Blood of Dawnwalker: how to find Heile's burrow, locate Tonis, and navigate the three endings, shiny teeth included.
How to Start Good Home
“Good Home” is the entry point to the entire Sanzhani storyline — and it is easy to miss, because it never appears as a quest marker. After the prologue, travel to the Svartrau Outskirts north of the city and find the glowing boulder ringed by red mushrooms, directly north of the Sandy Gorge shrine. Follow the trail of mushroom fairy rings; investigating the burrow they lead to costs two time segments.
Inside, crouch through the tunnel and meet Heile, a little girl who wants you to find her brother Tonis. Accept, and the quest formally begins. Everything that follows pays off through the Sanzhani questline hub — including, eventually, an extra day on the 30-day clock.

Finding Tonis: What to Investigate and Why
You can technically sprint straight to Tonis, but the optional investigations decide which endings stay open:
- Investigate Oghasti (one segment, strongly recommended). Find the family house with blue shutters and a plague mark on the door — Focus Mode highlights it. The bodies inside explain what happened to Heile’s parents. Skipping this investigation locks you out of the best outcome, because the key dialogue line will not appear later.
- Investigate the Wooden Palace (two segments, optional). The top-floor viewpoint points you toward the woodcutter’s camp near the river. Pure time-saver information.
- Ask the Coal Burner Chief at the woodcutter’s camp about Tonis; he directs you to the marked trees. From there, Tonis’s forest camp is a short walk.
Every path converges on Tonis’s camp in the forest. Escort him back to the burrow, where the Sanzhani Tsarina finally reveals herself — and the real decision begins. Full context on the girl lives on our Heile guide.
The Three Endings for Heile
The dialogue choices at the burrow decide Heile’s fate:
Heile stays with the Sanzhani (peaceful). Choose “Tonis, Heile is happy here,” then “You can’t provide for her,” then “She’s safe here. For the first time in her life.” The last line exists only if you investigated Oghasti. Tonis leaves, allowed to visit every new moon, and nobody dies.
Heile leaves with Tonis (the shiny teeth ending). Choose “The girl should live among her own kind,” “And what future awaits her here?”, and agree to the Tsarina’s price: three shiny teeth. Heile departs once you deliver them.
Tonis dies (the failure state). Any other combination — including staying silent — leaves Tonis furious. He threatens to return with men to free his sister, and the Sanzhani kill him. The quest completes, but an innocent man is dead.
How to Get Three Shiny Teeth
Shiny teeth are a rare drop from any human enemy — soldiers, bandits, civilians. Budget roughly three dozen kills to see three drop; renegade and bandit camps are the most efficient farms, and our bestiary maps the densest camps. One fixed tooth hides in the haystack of the pig pen by Andrei’s house in Svartrau City. If you would rather not hunt at all, the peaceful Oghasti route avoids the teeth entirely.
Aftermath and Rewards
Deliver the teeth and Good Home ends. You can later check on Heile and Tonis at the woodcutters’ camp — she collects kindling for half a loaf of bread and misses the Sanzhani, while Tonis muses about marrying her off in a year or two, and you can slip him 100 denarii. The mechanical reward matters more: the Tsarina offers to carry messages between you and Lunka at Greifberg Castle, opening the Letters to Lunka questline and the remaining four Sanzhani quests.
Time Cost and Practical Planning
Good Home runs two to eight time segments depending on how much investigating you do — the Oghasti detour and Wooden Palace inspection are where the variance lives. Two planning notes from the community: first, the quest is available day and night but the human-enemy farms for shiny teeth are denser around bandit camps, so accepting the teeth route pairs naturally with a camp-clearing itinerary; second, the mushroom-ring start is directly north of Sandy Gorge shrine, making it a free add-on to any northern excursion. Treat it as the key that unlocks the Sanzhani cluster rather than a standalone errand, and its segments pay for themselves through the extra day at the end of the chain.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Good Home missable? Yes — the mushroom-ring trail is unmarked, and the whole Sanzhani chain stays hidden until you stumble into it or follow a guide.
What is the best ending for Heile? The peaceful “stays with the Sanzhani” ending keeps everyone alive and Tonis in her life, and it requires the Oghasti investigation. The teeth ending is the only way to reunite the siblings.
Do my Good Home choices affect the main story? Not the endings, but the quest gates the entire Sanzhani cluster — including the single time extension in the game — so skipping it has outsized consequences.
