Fall Before Dusk Walkthrough: Crake Chain Finale
Fall Before Dusk in Blood of Dawnwalker: the Crake chain finale - the daylight assault on Greifberg Castle, the human-form Brencis fight, and The Knyazmaker.
Fall Before Dusk is the last step of Crake’s chain and one of the two finale quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker — the daylight half of the ending pair. Where Rise at Dawn begins the assault, Fall Before Dusk is the assault: Greifberg Castle in daylight, the Manumits at your back, and a Brencis duel fought in human form. Completing it earns The Knyazmaker achievement — and answers the question the whole chain has been asking: who rules next.

Where It Sits in the Chain
The arc’s final pair, per the Crake guide: …Who Pulls the Strings → Distant Shadows (optional) → A Closer Look (optional) → Rise at Dawn → Fall Before Dusk. The first summons you to the assault; the second is the assault. Together they are the Manumit route’s final quest, and they are a point of no return — once begun, the open world closes and the run funnels into its ending.
The Quest
The structure follows the castle’s full anatomy, covered stage by stage in the castle walkthrough:
- The approach — the infiltration to the keep, with stealth an option for its opening stretches and skipped-Boyar rematches taxing the courtyard if any lord’s content was left unfinished.
- The siege — the courtyard fight alongside Crake and the Manumits, daylight on your side and your vampiric toolkit offline.
- The throne room — the Brencis duel, whose first phase is fought in human form: no vampiric abilities, sword mastery and witchcraft carrying the exchange, per the human-form fight guide. The three-phase structure, the bleed-stacking sweep, and the phase-three enrage timer all still apply — only your toolkit is narrower.
- The ending — credits, epilogue, and the title screen. There is no free roam afterward; the master save is the way back.
The Prep Checklist
Everything in the when-to-start guide applies, with one addition unique to this route: your build must pass a daylight exam. If the run leaned hard into Vampirism, the human-form phase will feel like a straitjacket — read the fight guide first, and consider the respec option before committing. Beyond that: healing stocked past comfort, best silver sword sharpened, the mercy decisions made, and one labeled manual save that you never overwrite.
What the Ending Decides
The Knyazmaker is the revolution’s ending — not about killing Brencis, per the ending guide, but about what comes after. Crake’s epilogue, the valley’s next government, and the ending differences all turn on this quest’s completion. The name says the thesis: Knyaz is the title; Knyazmaker is the one who decides who wears it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Fall Before Dusk missable? No — but it is gated behind the full chain, the Infamy climb, and the point of no return. Arriving unprepared is the only real failure mode.
Can I still do Lacra’s finale after this? Not on the same branch — the finale commits to one ally. The master save before A Deal with the Devil is how both endings get seen from one month.
Does the day setting change the Brencis fight? Fundamentally. The human-form first phase locks vampiric abilities; see the human-form guide for the build and tactics that pass it.
What carries into the epilogue? Everything the month recorded — ally chains, mercy decisions, court anger — tallied per the ending checklist. The Knyazmaker’s epilogue is among the game’s most consequential for the valley’s future.
