Every Skill Point Source in Blood of Dawnwalker (Leveling, Quests & Elixirs)
Where skill points come from in Blood of Dawnwalker: level-up math, quest and boss rewards, the Razkovniche Elixir, the cathedral vial, and how manuals fit in.
Skill points are the scarcest currency in The Blood of Dawnwalker — one Ultimate costs 35, and you may ever unlock one of the nine, per the skill trees guide. Spending them well starts with knowing exactly where they come from, because the game never hands you the full ledger.

Source 1: Leveling — the Backbone
Levels are the reliable drip. Per the max-level guide, leveling produces 59 skill points across the cap — including the bonuses every level divisible by five awards (two points instead of one). If you are tracking a build against the month, level-ups are the floor you can count on.
Source 2: Quest Rewards — the Real Income
The bulk of your points beyond leveling hides in quests, and the game scatters them deliberately:
- Court activity chains — each Boyar’s activity chains pay skill points along the way, and the duels assume you spent them. This is the biggest single category: the court arc is a skill-point mine wearing a war costume.
- Boyar duels — the Gilded Gauntlet chain alone pays a skill point alongside an epic sword and a legendary heavy chestpiece, per the quest page.
- Boss fights broadly — the Unblinking Blasphemy and the other major encounters pay XP, a skill point, and their own loot tables as standard structure.
- Character quests — the Vicho thread pays the Mercenary’s Amulet, XP, and a skill point, plus the Unquenchable Thirst achievement. Several story-affecting quests follow the same shape.
- Choice quests — the Free Branko options each pay 250 XP plus a Skill Point for three time segments, a rate the quick quests guide holds up as the efficiency standard.
The pattern: if a quest matters, check its reward line. Points hide in the quests the story nudges you toward anyway.
Source 3: The One-Time Consumables
Two consumables grant points directly, once each:
- Razkovniche Elixir — drinking it grants +1 skill point, per the max-level guide.
- The cathedral vial — a blood vial hidden in Svartrau’s cathedral treasury adds another on top, same source.
Neither respawns per run. Drink them into the build you are actually playing, not the one you might play someday.
The Manuals Caveat
Skill manuals — which teach Swordmastery and Witchcraft techniques — do not grant skill points. Reading one only unlocks the node; you still pay the skill point (and any time cost) at a shrine. Players who hoard manuals expecting a refund of points are reading the system backwards: manuals multiply what your points can buy, they do not replace the points.
Spending Discipline
Because points are finite and Ultimates are exclusive, the meta-rule from the skill trees guide applies everywhere: decide your single Ultimate early, route every point toward it, and treat the respec option as the safety net rather than the plan. The game’s hardest walls — Mihai, the human-form finale — are passable at level with a focused build and miserable with a scattered one.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many skill points total are available? 59 from leveling, plus the quest and boss rewards above and the two consumables — enough for a focused build with one Ultimate and its supporting tree, not enough for everything. Plan accordingly.
Can you miss skill points permanently? Quest-gated ones, yes — fail or skip a paying quest and its point goes with it for that run. The elixir and vial stay findable until used; leveling points cannot be missed at all.
Do NG+ runs keep earned points? The NG+ guide covers carryover; expect the board to reset with bonuses attached rather than your full build porting over.
Where should my first points go? Whatever unlocks your build’s engine — a core attack, a defensive tool like the direction your Perfect Block play will lean on. Early points buy comfort; late points buy damage.
