Blood of Dawnwalker Ocha Ending - All 4 Quest Outcomes
All Ocha endings in Blood of Dawnwalker's The Heart Wants What It Wants quest. How the dialogue point system works and how to get the crime boss outcome.
Ocha, the Uriashi who picks a fistfight with you in a Svartrau tavern, has one of the most branched side quests in Blood of Dawnwalker. The Heart Wants What It Wants can end four different ways — and the game never tells you it is quietly scoring your words by the river. Here is how every Ocha ending works, what unlocks the best outcome, and the reward differences between them.

Before You Start: Where to Find the Quest
You can begin The Heart Wants What It Wants two ways:
- Enter the tavern in northwestern Svartrau City — the cup icon on the map — and use Focus mode to spot Ocha in the corner
- Or accept A Mother’s Plea from the Elder in Uriash Village, which leads to the same encounter
Ocha will shove you and drag you into a fistfight. Winning or losing does not matter — the quest continues either way. Afterward, agree to help her and her friend Nora escape Andrei, the crime lord who controls the city.
How the Ending Is Decided
Two things shape Ocha’s fate:
- How Andrei dies. You choose between killing him yourself or setting up a ritual hex that makes him kill himself. This determines which endings are even available.
- The river conversation. Afterward, Ocha asks you to meet her at the bridge southwest of Svartrau City. She makes you catch crayfish first — cute, but the task changes nothing. The three dialogue choices at this meeting are where the ending is scored.
The crayfish detail matters only because many players assume it is the deciding factor. It is not.
The Hidden Point System
Each river dialogue option adds a point to one of three hidden tracks:
| Choice | Home | City | Explore |
|---|---|---|---|
| “Do you miss home?” | +1 | — | — |
| “Do you like the city?” | — | +1 | — |
| “Why do you want to travel?” | — | — | +1 |
| “New things can be exciting, sure.” | — | +1* | +1* |
| “Meh, nothing better than homemade food!” | +1 | — | — |
| “Our neighbours helped a bit.” | — | +1* | +1* |
| “Other villagers just cared about themselves.” | +1 | — | — |
*The second and third choices add a City or Explore point depending on the track your first answer opened.
Ocha picks the track with the most points. A 2-to-1 split is enough — you do not need a clean sweep.
Ending 1: Ocha Becomes the Crime Boss (Best Outcome)
Requires: Andrei died by the ritual hex, plus City-track dialogue.
Use the hex route on Andrei, then steer the river conversation toward the city:
- “Do you like the city?”
- “New things can be exciting, sure.”
- “Our neighbours helped a bit.”
Ocha stays in Svartrau, takes over Andrei’s hideout, and becomes the city’s new crime boss with Nora at her side. She teaches you Swordmastery, opens a line to Vacho that starts the follow-up quest Study in Crimson, and her reputation becomes useful: mention her when bandits trouble you and they will stand down.
This is the most content-rich outcome and the only one that feeds back into other quests.
Ending 2: Ocha Travels with Nora
Requires: You killed Andrei yourself, plus Explore-track dialogue.
- “Why do you want to travel?”
- “New things can be exciting, sure.”
- “Our neighbours helped a bit.”
Ocha leaves Svartrau and wanders the world with Nora — but she sticks around long enough first to teach you Swordmastery. Warm, bittersweet, and the natural pick for players who answered honestly about wanting to see the world.
Ending 3: Ocha Travels Alone
Requires: Andrei died by the hex, but Nora died during the failed spellcasting; use the same dialogue as Ending 2.
The same travel dialogue with no Nora alive to travel with sends Ocha off alone. The game does not dwell on it, but it is the quietest and saddest of the four outcomes.
Ending 4: Ocha Returns to Uriash Village
Requires: Any Andrei outcome, plus Home-track dialogue.
- “Do you miss home?”
- “Meh, nothing better than homemade food!”
- “Other villagers just cared about themselves.”
Ocha gives up on the city and returns to the Uriashi settlement in the mountains. Available no matter how Andrei died, making it the most flexible ending — and the one that closes her story closest to where it began.
Rewards: What Every Ending Shares
Whichever outcome you get, completing the quest awards 150 denarii and the Broad Swing Manual. The differences are what comes after:
- Crime boss only: Swordmastery training, the Vacho connection, Study in Crimson follow-up, bandit deterrence
- Travel endings: Swordmastery training before she leaves
- Return home: the manual and denarii, no further content
Which Ocha Ending Should You Pick?
For content and rewards, the crime boss ending is strictly best — extra training, an extra quest, and a useful reputation perk. It only requires planning Andrei’s death: use the hex, not the blade. For story, pick the dialogue track that matches how you actually answered her. The game remembers in the epilogue slides either way.
One practical note: save before the river conversation. The point system is invisible in-game, and a wrong instinct pick costs you the best outcome.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does catching crayfish change Ocha’s ending?
No. The crayfish task is flavor. Only the three dialogue choices and how Andrei died matter.
Can I get the crime boss ending if I killed Andrei in a fight?
No. That outcome is gated behind the ritual hex. If you fight Andrei directly, you are locked into the travel or home endings for that run.
What does Ocha teach me?
Swordmastery training — combat lessons that improve your sword handling. In the crime boss route she also gives you the Vacho lead.
Is Ocha’s quest missable?
The quest itself is not on a timer, but like most side content it competes with the 30-day clock. Prioritize it before the endgame.
