The Lunar Game Walkthrough: Win Bakir's Tournament in Blood of Dawnwalker
Full Lunar Game walkthrough in Blood of Dawnwalker: how Farkas recruits you, which contestants to sabotage, maze tips, the feast dialogue, and every reward.
What Is the Lunar Game?
The Lunar Game (often called the Lunar Games or Lunar Festival by players) is the signature quest of Boyar Bakir in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It unlocks once Bakir’s anger gauge — tracked in the Court menu alongside your infamy — is completely full after enough sabotage runs against his operations. When the gauge maxes out, a man named Farkas approaches you with a plan: Bakir hosts a masked tournament at his stronghold, Lunar Manor, and the champion is granted a private audience in his treasury. That audience is your one clean shot at the Warmonger.
Farkas has his own motive — Bakir holds his family’s heirloom ring — and he will brief you on the one rule that defines the whole quest: no vampire powers, ever. Use Vrakhiri abilities openly and Bakir sees through your mask, turning a one-on-one duel into a fight against him, his elite guards, and his consort all at once.

How to Start and How Much Time It Costs
Arrive at Lunar Manor in the afternoon with at least four time segments free — ideally five. The quest consumes six time segments in total: three before the tournament for preparation, one to travel with Farkas, and the rest across the night of the competition itself. If Farkas finds you at an awkward hour, do not skip time to rush it; spend the segments on side content and let him approach when you are ready.
Phase 1: Prepare — Sabotage the Contestants
You get exactly three preparation segments, and there are more options than segments, so choose deliberately. Each action costs one segment:
- Deal with The Porcupine (recommended). Talk to the needle-masked fighter by the left wall and answer: “What made you join this tournament?”, “No dragons here, but plenty of other monsters to slay…”, “I was being more literal”, “Fair enough”. He will honor a non-aggression pact inside the maze.
- Recruit The Marten (recommended). By the back wall, pick: “Ready for a challenge?”, “No, it’s a nice change after Farkas.”, “I heard the boyar can’t shut up either.”, “What if I told you I want to kill him?”, “I can hold him down while you rip his head off.” She later hands you the Darkbane Amulet, a master-tier amulet.
- Poison The Cockroach (recommended). He refuses every deal, so activate Focus Mode, grab the glowing leaves near the guards, and drop them into the liquor vase behind him. He spends the tournament dying by a gate instead of hunting you.
- Speak with The Rat — he only promises silence. Low value.
- Do nothing on the remaining option; resting on the bench just burns the segment.
Phase 2: Survive the Maze
Night falls, Bakir gives his speech, and you are stripped to a low-grade sword. Cheer along with the crowd — never pick a line marked with the sword icon. Inside the maze, loot everything: crates carry blood vials and better gear is the whole strategy.
- Slip through the left crack and kill the vampiric dog. Play defensively and parry; then loot the corpse behind it for the Knightly Longsword and the chest nearby for armor.
- In the open courtyard with four dogs, take the left hole into the storage room for a master-tier bracer before pushing on.
- When you meet The Porcupine again, honor the pact and go your separate ways. Upstairs, a chest holds a master-tier sword — equip it before dropping to the mini-boss.
- The Marten falls to a Tatzelwurm in a scripted cutscene; the poisoned Cockroach is already finished. Bakir will order you to execute The Porcupine — do it yourself, or his guard does it anyway and Bakir refuses you the prize, forcing a harder fight.
Phase 3: The Feast and the Fight
Bakir hosts the survivors and probes your identity. Safe answers: refuse to remove the mask (“I’m sorry, but I’m not taking the mask off”), toast “To friendship and good fortune,” and answer “I want to die in my sleep at a ripe old age” to his questions about ambition. Slip once and you fight him with escorts.
In the treasury duel, Bakir hits like a siege engine. His deadliest move is a series of unblockable stomps that send a vertical wave of blood through the ground — when you see blood swirl around him, dodge left or right up to four times. His second unblockable is a rushing kick: sidestep, then punish. Switch to claws when his posture breaks and stay aggressive between wind-ups. Full strategy on the Bakir boss page.
Rewards and Choices
- Drain Bakir to send him to Anachora, gain Corruption progress, and unlock the Shadowstorm vampiric ability.
- Kill him instead and loot Bakir’s Armor, a legendary medium chestpiece with weapon damage and stamina perks.
- The treasury also holds the Vrakhiric Bracers (legendary, claw damage and cooldown stats) and piles of sellables.
- Farkas appears afterward asking for his ring — find it in the treasure room to close his follow-up quest, detailed with the rest of his story.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use vampire powers in the Lunar Game? Rats only — Voracious Bite on vermin is excused as “living off vermin.” Anything flashier raises Bakir’s suspicion across several uses and blows your cover.
What if I refuse to kill The Porcupine? A guard executes him, Bakir denies you the private audience, and you fight Bakir plus his escort. You still finish the quest, with worse odds.
Is the Lunar Game part of Bakir’s main questline? Yes — it is the confrontation stage of his arc. Prepare with our kill-or-spare overview and the recommended boss order.
