Blood of Dawnwalker Brencis Choices - All Final Fight Dialogue Options
All Brencis dialogue choices at Shrike's Crag in Blood of Dawnwalker - what each option in A Deal with the Devil triggers and how it decides your ending.
The most important conversation in Blood of Dawnwalker is a job interview with the devil. When Brencis summons Coen to Shrike’s Crag during A Deal with the Devil, every dialogue option commits you to an ending — and some only appear if you prepared the right way. Here is the full Brencis dialogue tree and what each choice does.

How You Reach the Brencis Parley
The parley has hard prerequisites — this is not an early-game conversation:
- Defeat all three Boyars — Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe, through their court activities
- Reach maximum Infamy — the rebellion and the kills that got you here are why Brencis extends the invitation
- Finish within 30 days — let the clock run out and the coronation replaces the parley
Meet all three and A Deal with the Devil triggers automatically. Brencis proposes a meeting at Shrike’s Crag, and the dialogue there decides everything.
The Opening Choice: Fight or Listen
Brencis opens with an offer wrapped in contempt. Your first response sets the tone:
- Refuse him outright — the meeting collapses into the fight immediately. If you attack during the parley itself, the story frames it as a deal gone wrong: Brencis falls, but his soldiers kill your father, and the rest of your family follows. It is the worst possible version of victory.
- Hear him out — the real menu opens.
Simply refusing is safe only if you intend to fight through the standard finale — and even then, pick your fight inside the proper quest flow, not at the parley table.
The Real Menu: Four Paths
Once the terms are on the table, the dialogue branches into the four full-ending routes:
| Choice | Ending | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Accept the deal — give up the Manumit hideout | The Turncoat | Available immediately |
| Reject him and fight alone | The Folk Hero | Always available |
| Answer with Lacra at your side | The Patricide | Lacra’s full questline complete; Midnight Reckoning unlocked |
| Answer with the rebellion behind you | The Knyazmaker | Crake’s chain complete; Rise at Dawn unlocked |
The ally options only appear if you actually completed those questlines. Arriving at the Crag with unfinished allies means the fight defaults to solo — the game does not lend you anyone you did not earn.
The Turncoat Branch: What the Deal Costs
The betrayal path deserves precision, because the game makes you do the deed yourself. Accept, and Brencis asks for the location of the Manumit hideout in Svartrau. You then travel there in person and leave a marker on the door. Brencis’s forces sweep in and murder the sleeping rebels — the rebellion dies by your hand, and your family walks free.
If Crake fully trusts you, one last conversation before the finale — telling him the rebellion is doomed — is what unlocks the betrayal dialogue at all. The full consequences are in the Turncoat ending walkthrough.
The Fight Branches: Solo vs Allied
Refusing the deal sends you to Greifberg Castle:
- Solo (Folk Hero): the hardest version of the fight. No partner draws aggro, no interruptions buy you healing windows.
- Lacra (Patricide): a night assault through the ancient ruins, the Blood Ritual destroyed along the way. Mid-difficulty.
- Manumit (Knyazmaker): the full rebel assault. Mechanically the most forgiving, narratively the most complete.
One detail the game does not advertise: the ending checklist lets you verify every branch condition before committing, and a manual save before the Crag lets you reload and walk the other branches — the credits return you to the title screen, not to free roam.
The Drained Boyar Wildcards
Your earlier Boyar decisions crash the party. Every Boyar you drained instead of killed manifests during the Brencis fight to attack their former master — then Brencis reabsorbs them, and you fight them again inside the encounter. Drain all three and the final boss can pull Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe back onto the field across its phases.
Invited-in souls also add commentary along the way. None of this changes which endings are available — but it changes how the final fight feels and how long it runs. Plan for it in the drain all bosses guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I attack Brencis at the parley?
You can win the fight, but the deal-gone-wrong framing gets your father killed by Brencis’s soldiers and the rest of your family executed. It is the worst version of the Folk Hero outcome.
Can I reach the parley without maximum Infamy?
No. Maximum Infamy after the third Boyar is the trigger. The rebellion’s visibility is what forces Brencis to negotiate.
What if I completed both Lacra and Crake’s questlines?
Both ally options appear, and the final choice is yours. One master save before the Crag lets you see both endings by reloading.
Do my drained Boyars help or hurt me here?
Both. They manifest against Brencis, get reabsorbed, and return as refights. More drained lords means a longer, harder final encounter.
