Blood of Dawnwalker Boyar Offers - Every Choice & Best Outcome

Every offer the three Boyars make you in Blood of Dawnwalker - Ambrus's toast, Bakir's tournament deals, Xanthe's bargain - and which choices give the best outcome.

Every Boyar in Blood of Dawnwalker tries to buy you before you fight them. Ambrus offers you a drink from his servant. Bakir offers you a place in his tournament — with strings attached. Xanthe offers a bargain that skips the fight entirely. Each offer is a choice, and each choice has a best answer. Here is every Boyar offer and what accepting or refusing actually costs.

Boyar Offers cover

The Pattern: Why Boyar Offers Matter

The three Boyars gate the entire endgame: defeat all three, raise Infamy to maximum, and only then does A Deal with the Devil open. But each Boyar confrontation is wrapped in optional offers, side deals, and dialogue traps. None of them change which endings exist — but they change how hard the road there is, who lives, and what powers you carry into the finale.

Ambrus’s Offer: The Toast

During The Gilded Gauntlet, Ambrus offers you the first drink from his servant Iulian right before the duel. If you completed the optional Bittersweet Toast setup (accept Erdene’s offer to meet Iulian Codrin, then perform the poisoning ritual), this toast becomes a four-way trap:

Dialogue OptionWith Poison PrepResult
“Letting a peasant drink first? What kind of boyar are you?”Ambrus drinks, fully poisonedBest — easiest fight, Iulian lives
“I don’t trust anything you offer”Ambrus drinks, fully poisonedBest — identical to above
“I don’t drink from humans”Ambrus stabs Iulian, drinks, partially poisonedIulian dies; poison wears off mid-fight
“Gladly. To a juicy slaughter!”Only Coen drinks — Coen gets poisonedWorst — Ambrus laughs at you

Best outcome: take “Letting a peasant drink first?” or “I don’t trust anything you offer.” A fully poisoned Ambrus can literally be beaten by dodging — the poison drains him through the whole duel. Full details in the poison Ambrus guide.

After the duel you face the bigger Ambrus choice: kill him for the Right Fist of the Knyaz trophy and Infamy, or drain him for the Scarlet Shield ability.

Bakir’s Offers: The Tournament Deals

Bakir’s court activity, The Lunar Game, is a web of small offers, each with a catch:

Farkas’s deal. Bakir’s servant Farkas offers to help you navigate the tournament because he believes Bakir’s rule is ending. Accepting opens the smoothest path through the maze — and starts Farkas’s own tragic storyline, which pays off after the fight. There is no reason to refuse.

The coin. Mid-tournament you are asked to retrieve a coin, which requires slaying another competitor. Agreeing marks you as the winner and advances you. Refusing closes that route and makes the rest of the tournament harder. Winning cleanly is the intended path.

The mask. Bakir asks you to remove your mask. If your Infamy is high he will recognize you — and the fight starts on his terms. You can persuade him to let you keep it by choosing dialogue lines that make him see you as an ally. Keeping the mask on until the treasury is worth it.

Treasury or courtyard. Getting Bakir alone in the Treasury Room is the preferred outcome: a clean one-on-one and full access to his vault (where the amethyst ring for Farkas’s quest waits). The alternative is fighting him in the courtyard with all his men.

Then the final offer: kill Bakir, or drain his blood to unlock Shadowstorm.

Xanthe’s Offer: The Bargain

Xanthe, the oldest vampire in Brencis’s court, does not lead with violence — she offers an arrangement. Accept her deal and the confrontation resolves diplomatically: no fight, no loot, but she survives owing you a debt.

That debt pays off. Sparing Xanthe reshapes the final assault on Greifberg Castle: her intelligence reveals hidden paths, her intervention thins the guards, and she creates a diversion at the critical moment. Refusing her offer means fighting her and forking over the endgame help. The full breakdown is in the spare or kill Xanthe guide.

Does Accepting Offers Affect Your Ending?

No single Boyar offer locks or unlocks an ending. But they stack: drained Boyars return inside Coen during the Brencis fight, spared Xanthe opens the castle, and Farkas’s deal decides a family’s fate in Parlita. Treat every offer as a brick in the ending you are building. The ending checklist ties it all together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I ever accept Ambrus’s drink?

Only if you skipped the poisoning setup and want to roleplay it. With Bittersweet Toast completed, “Gladly. To a juicy slaughter!” poisons you instead — the only dialogue option in the game that directly backfires.

Is there a downside to taking Farkas’s deal?

No. It opens the best route through the tournament and richer post-fight content. The tragedy in Farkas’s storyline comes from a later choice — the ring — not from accepting his help.

What if my Infamy is too high to keep the mask on?

You can still persuade Bakir with the right dialogue picks. If you fail, you fight in the courtyard with his men — winnable, but messier and without treasury access during the fight.

Which Boyar fight is hardest if I refuse everything?

Bakir’s courtyard fight is the most punishing, because you face him plus his men with no poison, no treasury isolation, and no Farkas intel.
