First 10 Skills to Unlock in Blood of Dawnwalker (Day-by-Day Build Order)

The first 10 skills to unlock in Blood of Dawnwalker in order: a day-by-day early build covering Swordmastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism for the opening week.

Why Order Matters More Than the Build

Almost every experienced player ends the early game with the same ten-ish perks — the difference between a smooth opening and a miserable one is when each lands. The Blood of Dawnwalker gates its difficulty behind stamina management, directional blocking, and blood economy, so this order front-loads the picks that fix those three systems and delays everything that merely adds damage. If you are looking for what to avoid entirely, see the perks to skip; this page is the positive sequence.

Early skill order for the first week

Days 1–2: Stamina Fundamentals (Swordmastery)

Your first two skill points go into the tree you use every single fight.

  1. Endless Effort. Extra stamina and cheaper attacks is the highest-value first pick in the game. Stamina is life: it gates dodges, blocks, and ripostes simultaneously.
  2. Perfect Block. Unlocks the directional perfect-block window. Even one level transforms guard from damage sponge into offense, and it feeds every riposte perk downstream.

If you find yourself swinging and gasping in the prologue, these two are why.

Days 3–4: The Riposte Engine (Swordmastery)

  1. Perfect Riposte. Turns successful perfect blocks into guaranteed counter damage. Combined with pick #2, blocking wrong-direction becomes survivable and blocking right-direction becomes your best damage source.
  2. Sustained Focus (or Omniblock if you struggle with directions). Sustained Focus stabilizes focus generation for ability uptime; Omniblock forgives wrong-direction blocks at a stamina cost. Choose by comfort, not pride.

Days 5–6: The Blood Economy (Witchcraft + Vampirism)

  1. Nourishing Blood (Vampirism). Passive healing tied to the blood you are already collecting. This is the perk that ends the food-scrounging phase of the run.
  2. Frugal Witchcraft (Witchcraft). Healing while enemies carry your debuffs. Slot one Witchcraft hex, keep it applied, and you regenerate through most trash fights for free.

Days 7–8: Acceleration (Vampirism)

  1. Hastened Corruption. Faster Corruption growth means earlier access to higher-tier vampire skills and levels. It has no conditions — it simply speeds up your entire late game from day seven onward.
  2. Endless Hunger (or Mercurial Fervour in the Witchcraft tree if you cast often). Endless Hunger extends vampire-form uptime; Mercurial Fervour boosts ability cadence. Both convert the previous picks into more value per fight.

Days 9–10: Claw Damage for Vampire Combat

  1. Razorsharp Claws. Claws are your primary damage source in vampire form; this is a straight multiplier on it.
  2. Blood Theft. Real lifesteal on the target that recently damaged you — the strongest sustain perk in the tree and the one that makes long boss gauntlets like Ambrus or Bakir feel fair.

Slotting It Into Your Build

This sequence assumes a balanced first run. If you already know you want a stealth-witch or pure-duelist character, swap Days 9–10 for that tree’s damage perks — the first eight picks barely change, because stamina, blocking, and healing are universal. Sources converge on the same core across Game8’s rankings and G2A’s perk guide; our own best-skills top ten covers where the build goes next, and the skill-path comparison helps if you are torn between trees.

For ability unlocks rather than perks: prioritize Scarlet Shield (free healing after perfect blocks, zero cooldown) and Voracious Bite (on-demand healing), then Shadowstorm once it unlocks from Bakir’s questline — our Lunar Game walkthrough covers that fight.

Perks vs Abilities: The Other Half of Your Power

Skill points are only half the progression system. Abilities — the active vampiric powers — come from story beats and choice rewards, and two of them outrank most perks in raw value. Scarlet Shield is the standout: free, repeatable healing triggered by the perfect blocks you are already practicing with picks two and three, with no cooldown worth mentioning. Voracious Bite is the second priority — on-demand healing that stabilizes any fight the moment Nourishing Blood’s passive trickle cannot keep up. Beyond those, Shadowstorm arrives naturally from the Bakir confrontation covered in our Lunar Game walkthrough, and Soul Reaping rewards aggressive players who drain often. The rule of thumb: perks shape what your character is always doing, abilities shape what you do on purpose. Fund the passive engine first with the order above, then let the active toolkit fill itself through play — you reach the same endgame either way, but the first ten days feel completely different.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I save points for ultimates instead? No. Ultimates are a trap early: Renounce Death and its siblings need a working build underneath them. Spend as you earn.

What if I picked a bad perk before reading this? Respeccing exists in-game; the order above matters most for levels 3–15, where every point is felt.

Does this order change on Challenging or Duelist? The first six picks become more important, not less. Difficulty presets change enemy numbers, not what your build needs.

Is there a separate stat or attribute system alongside perks? No — Coen has no attribute sheet. Power comes from three sources only: perks (passive, this page), abilities (active, from story beats), and gear. That is why the perk order matters so much: there is no hidden stat crutch to compensate for a scattered build.
