Lacra is the ally who came to Vale Sangora for one purpose — to kill Brencis — and the question of turning on her is one the game lets you ask, then answers without mercy. Killing her is not a combat accident. It is a betrayal, and The Blood of Dawnwalker treats betrayals as permanent.

How Killing Lacra Happens

Lacra is not an enemy you can stumble into fighting — she is a companion, one of the three confirmed romance options alongside Anca and Crake. The blade only reaches her through the game’s betrayal structure: siding against her for The Turncoat, the ending where Coen breaks faith with his allies entirely. In that version of events, she dies. The Lacra guide is unequivocal: there is no version of that betrayal where she forgives you, and no post-credits scene that retcons it.

What You Lose

The ledger for killing Lacra is the harshest in the game for a named character:

  • The Patricide ending. Her ending — the darkest route, where the vrakhiri’s claim on Brencis’s death becomes the point — closes permanently for that save. The ending checklist simply will not contain it.
  • The romance. Built on shared purpose and mutual respect, it ends the moment purpose does. No reconciliation branch exists.
  • The ally. Her six-quest chain, from A Friend Like This to Midnight Reckoning, collapses mid-arc, and the finale version where she fights beside you never happens.
  • The epilogue. Assuming she survives your choices, Lacra appears in the character fates montage — the specifics depend on whether you betrayed her, completed her chain, or left her unfinished. Betrayal gets its own entry.

What You Gain

Honesty requires the other column. The Turncoat route exists because some Coens decide the rebellion, the vrakhiri, and the whole valley are not worth the price — and the game honors that decision with a complete, fully-produced ending rather than a fail state. You gain an ending almost no one sees on a first run, and the choices guide records it as one of the game’s definitive “you actually did that” moments. What you do not gain is loot, power, or a mechanical reward: betrayal in this game is narrative, not transactional.

Killing Lacra vs. Just Siding with Crake

An important distinction the Lacra FAQ makes explicit: siding with Crake is not killing Lacra. If you simply choose Crake’s finale — the daylight assault of Rise at Dawn and Fall Before Dusk — Lacra does not appear in The Knyazmaker, but her fate is determined by whether you betrayed her, not by which finale you picked. Her chain can even run parallel to Crake’s in the same playthrough. The blade is a separate, darker decision.

How to Decide

If the choice is ahead of you: the master save before A Deal with the Devil is the designed way to see both sides. Take the betrayal on a branch, watch the epilogue, reload. What you should not do is kill her blind on a completionist run — the ending she unlocks is one of the game’s six, and her route is the only path to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you kill Lacra by accident? No — unlike Farkas, who can be murdered at night with low blood, Lacra’s death requires the explicit betrayal route. The game makes you choose it.

Does killing Lacra lock you out of any achievement? It locks the content behind The Patricide — its finale, its romance scenes, its epilogue entry. On a single-save run, that content is gone; plan around the master save.

If I romance Lacra and then betray her, does anything change? The romance ends like everything else, and the epilogue records the betrayal. Romance does not protect her — her fate turns on the betrayal flag, not the relationship flag.
