Blood of Dawnwalker True Ending - Hidden Conditions

What is the true ending in Blood of Dawnwalker? The Knyazmaker requires the full Manumit quest chain - here are the hidden conditions most players miss.

The Knyazmaker is the closest thing to a true ending in Blood of Dawnwalker. It is the only ending where Crake’s slave rebellion succeeds, the people of Laslea are freed, and you defeat Brencis with an army at your back. But it has the most requirements of any ending, including several hidden conditions most players miss.

True Ending cover

Why The Knyazmaker Feels Like the True Ending

The other full endings are personal:

  • The Turncoat is about your family
  • The Folk Hero is about your pride
  • The Patricide is about Lacra

The Knyazmaker is about the world. Crake’s Manumit rebellion — the slave uprising you spent half the game building — actually succeeds. The people of Laslea are freed. Brencis dies not to one hero, but to a revolution.

If you want the ending that feels like the “real” conclusion to the story, this is it.

The Full Requirement List

The Obvious Requirements

  1. Defeat all three Boyars through their court activities
  2. Finish within 30 in-game days
  3. Reach the final quest A Deal with the Devil

The Manumit Chain (Six Quests)

You must complete every quest in Crake’s rebellion chain, in order:

  1. The Firebrand — Meet Crake and join the Manumit
  2. Shadows in the Woods — Scout the rebellion’s hideout
  3. Where Loyalty Lies — Choose between Crake and the Boyars
  4. What Hunts the Night — Investigate the vampire attacks
  5. What Moves the Dead — Uncover the necromancy plot
  6. Who Pulls the Strings — Identify the true enemy

Then initiate the ending through Rise at Dawn or Fall Before Dusk.

The Hidden Conditions Most Players Miss

Condition 1: Spare the Informant

In Where Loyalty Lies, you can expose a Manumit informant to the Boyars or spare them. Sparing them is required. If you expose them, Crake’s trust in you breaks and the chain fails silently. You will not know until the final quest when the Knyazmaker option is missing.

Condition 2: Do Not Romance Lacra

If you completed Lacra’s full questline and romanced her, she will demand you abandon the rebellion and run away with her. If you agree, you lock into The Patricide. If you refuse, she leaves and is not available for The Knyazmaker.

You can complete some of Lacra’s quests for rewards, but not the full chain.

Condition 3: Save the Healer in What Hunts the Night

In What Hunts the Night, a Manumit healer is attacked by vampires. If you arrive too late or choose to pursue the vampires instead, the healer dies. Without them, the rebellion lacks medical support and cannot sustain the final assault.

The healer is in the southwest corner of the map, not marked by a quest icon. You must find them manually.

Condition 4: Recruit the Blacksmith

In What Moves the Dead, you can recruit a blacksmith to arm the rebellion. This is optional, but without them the Manumit fight with farming tools instead of swords. The Knyazmaker still triggers, but the cutscene shows heavy losses and the “good” version of the ending is replaced with a darker variant.

The Final Dialogue Choices

When you reach A Deal with the Devil with all conditions met:

  1. First dialogue: “The people of Laslea deserve better.”
  2. Second dialogue: “Crake, now!”
  3. Third dialogue: Attack Brencis with the Manumit

If any condition is missed, the “Crake, now!” option will not appear.

What Happens After

The cutscene shows the Manumit storming Brencis’s castle. You fight alongside Crake and the rebellion, not as a lone hero but as a leader. The people of Laslea are freed, the Boyars are gone, and a new government forms.

It is the only ending where the world is genuinely better, not just your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Knyazmaker the canon ending?

The developers have not confirmed a canon ending, but The Knyazmaker is the most complete narrative conclusion.

Can I get The Knyazmaker and The Folk Hero in the same run?

No. The Folk Hero requires fighting Brencis solo. The Knyazmaker requires fighting with the Manumit. They are mutually exclusive.

What happens if I miss a hidden condition?

The “Crake, now!” dialogue option simply will not appear. You will not know why unless you check a guide. This is the most common reason players think The Knyazmaker is bugged.
